I joined Barclays in 1969 as a shorthand typist at Market Place, Haywards Heath and in November 1971, married Jack. At that time I was offered a job at the newly set up branch in Lindfield, where I stayed until I took voluntary redundancy/early retirement in 2000.
I thoroughly enjoyed working for the bank and stayed at Lindfield for many years. As it was one of the smallest branches, I was encouraged to learn the various roles, including being in charge of the branch. Jack and I lived above the branch and Lindfield was our life for 17 years, where we became known by customers and villagers alike, and I was saddened when it had to close.
In 2001, I joined the Mid Sussex Spread Eagles club, where Jack and I have enjoyed many wonderful days out and I now manage the annual Christmas lunch event.
My hobbies include exercising (Bootcamp, Pilates, Walking and Ballroom dancing), our garden and of course, holidays to exotic places – recently visiting China, Thailand, Peru, Kenya and Tanzania.
