A.G.M. and Lunch - April, 2023
The AGM took place at the East Sussex National Golf Club on 20th April with 109 members in attendance on a beautiful sunny Spring day. We worked our way through the formal AGM meeting Agenda at a very good pace. Last year’s AGM Minutes, the 2022 Chairman’s Report and the 2022 Accounts were all approved. This year our Treasurer and Social Secretary kindly agreed to keep their reports brief so I would have time to respond to an item we had received under Any Other Business.
The item was regarding the possibility of starting the coach pickups in Eastbourne. In advance of the AGM, the Committee had explored the logistics of doing this but unfortunately the time constraints of the coach driver meant that this was not possible. I shared the full details of our findings to those assembled and reassured everyone that we would continue to make our social programme as accessible to as many Members as possible. As part of this commitment the Club had advertised a new vacancy on the Committee for an Eastbourne Social Events Organiser. Regrettably at the time of the AGM no applications had been received, although I remain hopeful.
The election of the Chairman and Management Committee for 2023/24 saw an across-the-board re-election of the 2022/23 team. David Comber was also re-elected to be the Accounts Examiner for 2023. On behalf of us all, I would thank the entire Membership for their continued support and trust you place in us to run your Club. A list of the Club Committee is shown at the end of this Newsletter as usual.
With the "business” part of the event over, we were served a delicious lunch by the friendly staff and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces enjoying the company of their friends and ex-colleagues – I COULD ASK FOR NO MORE!! - Stephen Barnett
"Just a note to thank you, and your colleagues, for arranging the AGM lunch. It was a lovely occasion and we enjoyed the venue, meeting and meal. We realise that this entails much hard work and we are very grateful to you all. Look forward to seeing you all again soon." - Barry and Joan Turnwell
