A.G.M. & Lunch - April, 2025

The AGM took place at the East Sussex National Golf Club on 17th April with 105 members in attendance on a bright Spring day.
We worked our way through the formal AGM meeting Agenda at a rapid pace.
After the Apologies for Absence were given the last year’s AGM Minutes were approved with no Matters Arising and the 2024 Chairman’s Report was also approved. In the absence of Janet Russell, Tony Comber presented the Treasurer’s Report with the 2024 Accounts also being approved.
The Social Secretary Report was presented by Stephen Barnett outlining the events that had taken place in 2024 and it was agreed as a true account of our activities. Stephen formally recognised the great work undertaken by Sue Russell, Graham Russell, Christine Goose and Sandra Yarwood who had now all retired from the Committee. He also welcomed Julia Shaw to the Committee’s Social Team for 2025 and beyond and thanked her for organising this year’s AGM.
The election of the Chairman and Management Committee for 2025/26 saw an across-the-board re-election of the remaining 2024/25 team. David Comber was also re-elected to be the Accounts Examiner for 2025.
An additional Agenda item was the amendment to the Club’s Rules – Rule 5 relating to the composition of the Management Team which was approved.
The Club had been given a voucher for an Afternoon Tea at The Langham Hotel Eastbourne and the winner of the raffle draw was Kay Barfoot.
As there was a little time before the lunch was due to be served, Stephen explained why there were no coach trips on the 2025 Social Programme but that the Committee were considering 2 possible coach trips for 2026.
The Committee thanks the entire Membership for their continued support and trust you place in us to run your Club.
With “the business” part of the event over, we had a few minutes to chat and mingle before we were served a delicious lunch by the friendly staff and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces enjoying the company of their friends and ex-colleagues. - Stephen Barnett
"Many thanks for organising todays Lunch and AGM." - Lesley Forgham
"I want to thank you for the seating plan on our table, which was perfect. Because I live alone, it is important to me to sit with my closest friends - thank you again." - Vivien Hill
"Thank you for a good day yesterday. Lovely lunch, short business meeting and good company. Thank you". - Margaret Smith
"Sorry a little late but nonetheless a warm thankyou from Sue and I for once again organising an enjoyable and tasty lunch last Thursday. Particular thanks to Julia Shaw for her first event as social team leader. Not an easy task especially following in the footsteps of Sue but she proved herself to be an excellent replacement supported by her team. Once again the venue was ideal, the meal couldn't be faulted, the company enjoyable and you even arranged some sunshine. Please thank all the committee for their involvement." - Bryan Barnes
