A.G.M. Lunch, Barnsgate Manor - April, 2018
The AGM took place at Barnsgate Manor on 19th April with 120 members in attendance.
We worked our way through the formal AGM meeting Agenda at a cracking pace. As usual our Treasurer, Nigel Field, provided an in-depth journey into the world of finance and this year he actually managed to refer to entries in the accounts!! Sue Russell shared with us the “Social Story of 2017”. It bought back many happy memories of the events organised by her and her team and we had enjoyed so much last year.
The election of the Chairman and Management Committee for 2018/19 saw an across the board re-election of the 2017/18 team. On behalf of us all, I would thank our Members for their continued support and the trust you place in us to run your Club.
After 11 years of checking our books, Peter Hayes, our Accounts Examiner, decided to step down. I thanked him for his help over these years and, because he never wants to receive the customary “Thank You” gift, the Club presented his wife Anne with a bouquet of flowers – after all she did have to give up her kitchen table every year when it became the Examiners Workplace!! Our new Accounts Examiner will be David Comber, who had kindly agreed to take over and he was unanimously elected to this role.
With “the business” part of the event over we all enjoyed a very good lunch served by the friendly staff at Barnsgate. Good food – good company – and lovely sunny weather --- What more could you ask for! - Stephen Barnett
"Another good meeting and meal well done to you and your team.” - Neal McNamara
"Another triumph of organisation and I thought Barnsgate really did us proud with the lunch today. My soup and Halibut were lovely and though I didn’t choose the Pavlova -darn it! - that looked delicious too. They didn’t last long on our table!” - Janet Russell
